New to Celtic Wicca - where do I begin? was created by fernandflint

Merry meet! I'm completely new to all of this. I was raised without any religion at all and have always felt most at peace outdoors, so nature-based spirituality really calls to me.

Where would you suggest a total beginner starts? Books, practices, anything. I don't want to just buy a bunch of crystals and call it a day.

The best first step costs nothing: go outside every day for a week and just pay attention. Which trees are around you, where the sun rises, what the moon is doing. The Wheel of the Year makes a lot more sense when you've watched it turn.

For reading, Scott Cunningham's 'Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner' is an old classic and very gentle.

Agree with quietoak. Also keep a notebook. Write down what you notice, what you dream, what you read. A year from now you'll be amazed.

Thank you both, this is really helpful. I started the notebook last night. :)
